TIRUVARUR:Five bronze idols of Gods and Goddesses were stolen from temples near Tiruvarur on Sunday.
The police said that Gajendran, who is over a 100 years old, the priest of the Poorana Pushkalambal Maha Sastha Ayyanarkoil located in Keelappalayoor village near Kudavasal, came to the temple on Sunday morning to perform the regular rituals.
He noticed that the door locks of the temple were broken. When he looked inside, he found three bronze idols of Pooranambal, Pushpa Kalambal, Ayyanar missing. The length of the idols was two feet each. He also noticed that two bronze idols of Mahamariamman and Selliamman from the nearby Mariamman temple were also missing.
