VELLORE: The Special Investigation Division (SID) of the CB-CID on Monday produced terror suspects ‘Police’ Fakruddin and his associates before the court in Vellore on Monday after completing the interrogation regarding the murder case of a jewellery staff last year.
‘Police’ Fakruddin, Bilal Malik and ‘Panna’ Ismail were brought to the court under tight security to the premises of the District Combined Courts’ Complex at Sathuvachari around 2.15 in the afternoon.
They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court- III, which granted the special wing five days custody of the terror suspect trio, on Friday.
Though the custody was valid till 5 pm on Tuesday, the SID produced them a day before that.
Following the direction from the court, the trio has been taken to the Central Prison for Men and remanded around 3.30 pm.
The trio waylaid gold jewels and cash from the jeweller Panchatcharam and stabbed him to death near the railway station in Gudiyattam on April 29, 2013.
After their arrest in the first week of October last year, they confessed to the crime and also stated that they waylaid Panchatcharam to raise funds for the ‘jihad’ activities in the State. They murdered him when he resisted them.
Sources in the special wing said the investigation officer of Panchatcharam murder case had taken Fakruddin to Coimbatore on Saturday for collecting vital evidence in the case.
On the next day, Malik had been taken to the scene of the murder for enquiry.
