Man Hacked, 1.5 kg Gold Stolen

CHENNAI: A gang of eight members came on four two-wheelers and robbed 176 sovereigns gold from a wholesale jewellery employee near Anna flyover on Monday night. Police said the victim, Himmath Ram, aged 40, who works at a wholesale jewellery store at PV Koil Street in Royapuram, was riding his two-wheeler and taking gold chains weighing 1,413 grams to deliver at a leading jeweller in T Nagar when the incident took place. After he crossed Anna flyover and was about to enter GN Chetty road he was intercepted by the gang who hacked  his hands and snatched the jewellery and fled. With bleeding injuries Himmath Ramm registered a case at the police station. Cops are investigating. They suspect it to be an insider’s job.
