Rescued Kids Handed Over to Parents

VELLORE: Fourteen children, who were rescued from an unauthorised home in Tirupattur over a month ago, have been handed over to their parents on Sunday.

The Social Defence Department officials had rescued the children, all hailing from Bihar, from the unauthorised home on August 30, during a check.

The officials found that the home was not registered as per norms. “We found that the home was opened five months ago and was functioning like a Madrasa. It had failed to care and protect children, who were aged between 10 and 15 years,” said District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) D Saravanan.

The officials issued a closure order against the home and shifted the children to the Government Reception Home at Kagithapattarai in Vellore on August 30.

“We informed the parents and asked them to bring all legal documents to establish their identity and their relationship with children,” Saravanan added.

After the documents furnished by the parents of the 14 boys were cross-checked,  the officials handed the children over to parents.
