Residents of the area suspected something amiss when the two women did not come out of their house on Tuesday morning. When the ir calls went unattended, they broke open the front door of the house. Entering, they found the body of Ayyamal near the door. No visible external injuries were found on her body.

After Peelamedu police were alerted, two deputy commissioners, five assistant commissioners as well as the station police rushed to the spot and began investigations. They suspect that the two women might have been strangulated.
