Notification Issued for Hiring 211 Constables

PUDUCHERRY : The Police Department has issued a notification to recruit 211 police constables (male)  for the India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) and 450 home guards as was announced by Chief Minister N Rangasamy a few months ago.

A top official said the recruitment process would be transparent and that the authorities would not tolerate any malpractice. Also, he cautioned the candidates about touts and  agents.

As per the details made available, for the constables’ posts in IRBn, the minimum qualification is a pass in 10+2 or its equivalent and the applicants who are native of UT by virtue of domicile or continuous residence for the last five years immediately preceding the date of notification are eligible

The age-limit is between 18 and  22 as on September 30, 2014. The MBC/OBC/EBC/BCM and BT would have three- year relaxation in age- limit and SCs five years. Meritorious sportspersons would have five years and three years, depending on their category.

The aspirants should meet the physical standards laid down and the eligible applicants would be issued call-letters to appear for a battery of  tests -  those who satisfy the physical measurement have to take a three-stage physical efficiency test - 1 mile race (in 6.30 min), long jump (3.80 m) and high jump (1.20 m). Only candidates, who clear the first stage, would be eligible  for the next stage and so on.

Those, who qualify in the physical standards and the  efficiency tests, would be eligible to appear for a written test, which would be for a duration of 2.30 hours. The written test would be in English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu and the candidate should get a minimum of 40 per cent in the case of general candidate and 35 per cent for others.

Candidates may apply online from the website http://www.police.pondicherry.gov.in/ till November 10 and also need to send the copy of the online-generated application along with attested copies of relevant documents to the Superintendent of Police (HQ), No 2, Dumas Street, Police Head Quarters, Puducherry, before November 20.
