AIR Redo a Bid To Foist Hindi: Ramadoss

CHENNAI: Accusing the NDA government of attempting to impose Hindi on non-Hindi speakers, PMK founder S Ramadoss on Friday raised objection to an internal circular of public broadcaster All India Radio, about programmes of AIR stations in Dharmapuri, Nagercoil and Karaikal.

Ramadoss alleged that the redrawing of the programming charts was an attempt by the NDA government to force Hindi programmes on the speakers of other languages. “AIR officials are saying that the move is aimed at cutting costs and increasing advertisement revenue. But, there are strong reasons to believe that the true motive of this move is to spread Hindi in all states,” Ramadoss said.
