UP Man Held for Entering Sulur Air Base

COIMBATORE: A 30-year-old Uttar Pradesh native was detained when he ‘infiltrated’ the Sulur Air Force base, here on Saturday. Investigations revealed that the man had managed to sneak into the key military installation on numerous occasions foraging for food.

Sources said that M Mohammed Wagil (30), a resident of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, was detained from the ‘sensitive zone’ of the airbase called ‘28th dumb-bell’. Wagil was later handed over to the Sulur police, who registered a case.

When contacted, the Sulur Air Force’s wing commander Sathish Kumar declined to comment. “We have informed the intelligence officials and the police. We do not have the clearance to speak about the incident,” he said.
