6 Stranded TN Men in SL Custody

RAMANATHAPURAM: The Lankan navy detained six Indian fishermen, who were stranded in the sea off Thalaimannar after their boat developed a snag, during the wee hours of Tuesday.

Sources said that over 500 boats ventured into sea on Monday.

One of boats suddeveloped a snag and did not sail further. The boat, with six on board, started moving into the Lankan waters owing to strong winds and it moved close to the jetty at Thalaimannar in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, the Lankan navy personnel, who spotted the boat, rushed to the spot and detained all the six fishermen along with their boat.

All of them were kept under the Lankan navy custody till evening, according to sources.
