CHENNAI: A 20-year-old youth was allegedly burnt to death by five members of a family at Kancheepuram after he was caught red-handed peeping into the bathroom of an adjacent house and watching a woman taking bath.
The deceased Sudhakar, a resident of Kannanthangal village, managed to ride a motorcycle and reach home even after he was intercepted and set on fire by the assailants in the wee hours of Monday. The Kancheepuram police have arrested five persons based on the statement Sudhakar gave to a judicial magistrate in Chennai minutes before he succumbed to burn injuries in the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.
The sequence of events that led to the murder began on Saturday when a woman member of Sudhakar’s neighbouring family noticed him peeping into the bathroom as she was taking bath. “She informed her parents about it.”
