No Comments on testpapers, Teachers told

COIMBATORE: The Central Board for Secondary Education has instructed the teachers not to comment on the student’s answer sheet and to go for smileys, emoticons or cartoon stickers to encourage them to perform well. The Board sent a circular to all the CBSE schools on Tuesday in which it mentioned that there was a common tendency among teachers to write comments like good, better and poor based on the marks of students. As it might have a negative effect on young minds, the CBSE has instructed teachers handling classes 1 to 5 not to comment on the answer sheets. The board has advised the teachers to go for a star-based rating system or use cartoons to encourage the students who did not perform well in the exams.
