5 Arrested for Stealing Copper Wires

PUDUCHERRY: Police on Friday arrested five persons for allegedly stealing copper wires and scrap from a private factory at Sedarapet here recently. The accused were identified as Kannabiran (26), Subramani (25), Kathirvel (37), Raja (30) and Nagarajan (47).

The worth of the materials stolen was estimated to be `5 lakh. A car and two bike were seized from the accused. One of the accused is absconding. Meanwhile, police  launched a search for robbers who struck at two houses in the Thirubhuvanai police station limits.

In a case of robbery, theives decamped with 34 sovereigns and `20,000 in cash from a Public Distribution Shop employee Krishnamurthi’s house after breaking open the back door.
