AIADMK MLAs Give Salary for J and K Relief

PUDUCHERRY: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLAs on Friday offered  a month’s salary towards the relief fund for the flood-hit in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the Zero Hour in the Territorial Assembly, Anbazhagan said that like other States including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry government should also offer some assistance to the victims of the calamity.

On college seats, the DMK MLA A M H Nazeem said the number of seats have to be raised in the Avvaiyar Women’s College, affiliated to the Pondicherry University, as applications have been overflowing.

Nazeem said the Pondicherry University was prepared to grant approval, hence, the government should give the ‘No Objection Certificate’ for enhancing the seats by another 50.

Highlighting the rise in accidents at the Marapalam junction, A Baskar  (AIADMK) said the junction has seen frequent accidents, hence traffic should be regulated there.

Urging the Union Territory government to set right the dilapidated quarters in his constituency,  K Lakshminarayanan (Congress) said that some of the quarters provided by the government in his constituency have been in a damaged condition for the past eight months.

The government should carry out repair works immediately, Lakshminarayanan added.
