PUDUCHERRY: Collector Dr S Sundaravadivelu on Friday inaugurated an information centre, said to be the first in the South, at the SRM Institute for Medical Sciences (SIMS) at Victoria Nagar here.
Officer-in-charge of the centre, Sugumaran, said that SIMS would function round-the-clock and doctors of super-specialty disciplines would be available during weekends as well.
Sugumaran said one super-specialty doctor in the disciplines of Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, ENT, Gynaecology, Infertility, Pediatrics, Urology, Oncology and General Medicine would be available at the centre on weekends on a rotation basis.
The officer-in-charge said laboratory facilities would be set up soon to cater to the needs of patients. Blood samples would be collected and results made available to the patients within 24 hours, he said.
The Officer-in-charge added that if any advanced analysis was needed, then the samples taken from the patients would be sent to the SIMS Hospitals in Chennai.
The SIMS centre would function from 1st Street, No 4, Victoria Nagar, near Ellaipillaichavady.
