VELLORE: Vehicular traffic between the old bus stand and Raja theatre on Anna Salai in the Fort City has been partially diverted due to the commencement of the Underground Drainage work on Monday.
Heavy vehicles coming from Aarni road were diverted to the National Highway through Sathumadurai, Pennathur, Malaikodi, Oossur and the airport at Abdullahpuram.
Buses arriving from Aarni were diverted to Bagayam, Sainathapuram, Sankaranpalayam, new corporation office, Nethaji sports stadium, Fort Round Road, Old Bypass Road and Green circle, to reach the New bus stand.
Buses from New bus stand , proceeding towards Tiruvannamalai, were diverted via Green Circle and Old Bypass road, to reach Anna Salai from where they would drive on the right side of the road to reach Aarni road.
Heavy vehicles from Katpadi bound for Tiruvannamalai were diverted through Konavattam, airport, Oossur, Malaikodi, Pennathur and Sathumadurai.
The Bagayam bound town buses from Katpadi were diverted to the right side of Anna Salai while the town buses from the opposite direction were routed through the Fort Round Road to reach New Bus stand.
The changes that have been put in place now to facilitate free movement of traffic, allows buses to pass through the Old bus stand. A temporary bus stand has also been created near the new fish market near Makkan area.
