TIRUNELVELI: A 36-year-old constable attached to the Kalakad police station in the district was suspended after he was booked for allegedly teasing and abusing schoolgirls on Thursday.
Sources said, Ganesan (36) was posted on patrol near Singikulam, Katuvetti and Devanallur, through which girl students from Kaduvetti and nearby areas used to walk to their school at Idaiyankulam. Ganesan used to tease and abuse the girls. On Thursday, Ganesan not only abused the students, but also threatened them while on duty. Panicked, the students complained to teachers and parents. School authorities lodged a complaint at Kalakkad police station based on which a cases was registered. Tirunelveli SP Narenthiran Nair suspended Ganesan from service on Friday and ordered to set up a team to nab him.
