Loyola Lad Hangs Self Over Love?

CHENNAI: A Praveen Kumar, a second-year B Com student of  Loyola College committed suicide by hanging himself in his house at Pudupet on Sunday.

Praveen Kumar entered his room around 4.30 am on Sunday morning and was found dead around 5.30 am by his parents, who broke open the door as Praveen did not respond to repeated knocking.

The Egmore police are yet to ascertain the reason why the student took the extreme step. “He has not left any suicide note. But the family members say he was highly depressed for the last two days. They did not disclose any reason,” said a police officer. A police officer said the Whatsapp messages on his phone suggest that a love affair could be the reason. “But it is too early to conclude that this is the reason for the suicide. The boy was apparently active in his college and was also student leader of his department,” said a police officer.

Praveen Kumar was living with his parents at Langs Garden Road in Pudupet and his father Alphonse is a real estate businessman.

The body was taken for autopsy to the Government Royapettah Hospital and later handed back to the parents. Further investigations are on.
