Med Camp in Arakkonam to Check Fever

VELLORE: A medical team from Vellore has been camping in Keelvenpakkam near Arakkonam from Saturday, after five cases of a viral fever were reported in the village.

The team will be stationed in the village for 7 days to prevent the spread of fever. “Its a viral fever. As of now 5 cases have been reported. There is nothing to panic as all preventive measures to control the spread of the fever are being taken,” said K Poongodi, Deputy Director of Health Services. She added that the medical team will check the quality of drinking water and take blood samples, to identify the presence of any new disease. A mosquito fogging plan was also being launched, she  added.

Residents of the village claimed that salt water mixing with the drinking water in the tank could be the reason behind the fever.
