MADURAI: A manager of the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) was on Friday ‘arrested’ till the rising of a court for delay in shifting a liquor outlet in Thoothukudi despite a judicial order. Originally, Kasirajan, a resident of Kovilpatti, had moved the Madurai Bench seeking a direction to the the TASMAC to shift a liquor outlet functioning adjacent to a study centre of the Tamil Nadu Open University. In July last year, the court directed the TASMAC to shift the shop. The TASMAC did not shift the ship, prompting Kasirajan to move the court again. On Friday, the TASMAC Thoothukudi District Manager Sekar appeared in the court and he was unable to explain the delay in complying with the court’s directive. Hence, Justice S Nagamuthu directed the official to be detained in the court hall from 3 pm till the day’s proceedings were over.
