VELLORE: Viduthalai Chiruthai Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan has said that there is a need for a strong political front in the State to fight for the rights of Lankan Tamils.

“It is necessary to have a strong alternative political front to stand for the rights of Tamil Eelam. Though there is no sign of such an alternative, it is certainly the need,” the VCK leader told media persons here on Sunday after addressing a gathering on the 136th birthday anniversary of Periyar.

Welcoming the idea of  joint fight based on principles suggested by  MDMK leader Vaiko, he said, “I want such a force to gain strength in future.”
