VELLORE: The villagers in and around Ichipudur have stepped up their agitation against Southern Railways’ decision to close down the Ichipudur Railway Station.
Led by the panchayat presidents of six villages in the vicinity, a number of residents observed a fast on Monday in Thanigaipolur village, reiterating that the station should not be closed down.
On the contrary, they demanded that Ichipudur Railway station should be upgraded by allowing more trains to stop there.
