Warning on Dumping Waste Near Bus Stand

VELLORE: The Tirupattur municipality has issued a warning to the general public not to dump garbage, construction debris and other waste materials in tanks near the new bus stand.

In a release, the commissioner said, severe action would be taken against those indulging in such activities. He said, it had been brought to the notice of the municipality that some miscreants were dumping garbage and construction debris in the tank during the night hours. This would attract action under the Public Health Act, Sections 21 and 138 while the vehicles used for such dumping would be confiscated. Public have been requested to lodge complaints against such activities to the municipal sanitary officer at 9944077428 and 04179-220048. The municipality has also initiated measures to prevent vector borne diseases such as dengue and chickungunya. The civic body has appointed a special workforce to reduce mosquitoes breeding. Sanitary workers have been engaged in fumigation in the town.
