COIMBATORE:A special court to deal with the motor vehicle accident claims directed court officials to confiscate the property belonging to a private insurance company, which had failed to pay `38 lakhs in compensation to an accident victim.
Court sources said that the victim Abdul Rahman (31), from Podanur in the city, had sustained serious injuries in an accident with another vehicle on October 30, 2006.
The court had directed the insurance company to pay compensation to the victim. As the company had failed to oblige the order, the court had directed that the property belonging to the company in their RS Puram branch be confiscated.
However, when court staff went to the address mentioned to attach the property, they found that the branch of the company had been shifted elsewhere.
Further action would be taken against the company based on the judge's orders.
