Cracker Blast Near House of Accused Man

PUDUCHERRY:  Panic spread in Vanarapet area after unidentified persons hurled a powerful cracker near the house of an anti-social element late on Sunday.

Police said the cracker fell near a house situated close to where a history-sheeter, Aiyappan, an accused in rowdy Jagan’s murder case was staying.

Jolted by the loud noise, residents came out of their houses and informed police who rushed to the spot and found that the ‘cracker’ had  exploded. More police personnel were deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police Law and Order), Dr V J Chandran, who visited the spot, said an filed an FIR has been filed and further investigations are on. Superintendent of Police (North) Ravikumar also visited the place. Sources said Aiyappan was acquitted in the Jagan murder case and has been staying away from his house.

It may be recalled that unidentified persons had thrown a country bomb at a house located in the same area a few days ago. Police are yet to arrest the culprits behind the act.
