COIMBATORE: People in general, cashiers of government departments and private companies, and sometimes even bank staff, write the amounts or the number of currency notes in a bundle on the watermark. In many cases, people write their names or company names or place their seals on the notes while making a transaction or a payment. In some cases, those who receive the payments in high-denomination notes write the name and details of the payer on them. This is done to identify the person who
gave the notes, in case they are later found to be fake. Apart from this, many people write messages of love, including the name of their lover, religious advice and quotes and sometimes hate messages.Â
