COIMBATORE:A 43-year-old man and his family comprising his wife and two daughters, staged a protest in front of a private bank, against the bank’s move to auction his property, which had been pledged to the bank, and for which a loan of Rs 56 lakh was received.
Sources said that the protestor, S Sasikumar, a milk vendor from RS Puram, and a few family members decided to start a jewellery store in RS Puram. Sasikumar had pledged his property and had received a loan from the bank. However, Sasikumar had failed to repay the entire loan amount to the bank. Hence, the bank had decided to auction his property.
On Monday, Sasikumar, his wife Rani, and two daughters aged 14 and 11 years, doused themselves with milk. RS Puram police intervened and escorted the man from the bank. Investigations are underway.
