COIMBATORE: A 25-year-old woman hanged herself at her residence on Friday night. It is stated that she took the extreme step as her husband had denied her permission to ride a bike.

S Sumalatha from Ramakrishna Nagar, Vadamadurai, had gotten married in February, 2012. She was working as a recruiter for a computer technology company in Saibaba Colony. On Friday, she wanted to take the bike, the couple owned, to work. But, as she was involved in a couple of accidents while riding the bike on previous occasions, her husband did not allow her to ride the bike this time around.

After returning from work, Sumalatha had asked her husband to buy her tea. As he stepped out, she made a noose with her saree, tied it with the ceiling fan and hanged herself. She was being rushed to the hospital by her husband when she died.

A case was registered by Thudiyalur All Women Police on Saturday.
