Sathasivam Lauds KMCH for Excellece

COIMBATORE:Former Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam inaugurated the 60-bed KMCH Critical Care Institute here on Sunday, when the hospital celebrated its silver jubilee.

Justice Sathasivam, who was the chief guest at the function, lauded the excellent care the Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) provides, quoting the editor of a health magazine. He also said that the average Indian was unable to bear the cost of medicines though modern medicine has helped eradicate many diseases.

He also said that while basic knowledge of law was the empowerment of right, learning about health was the empowerment of oneself. He urged the doctors to follow the Code of Medical Ethics Regulations, 2002, and not to disclose the gender of the fetus. He urged doctors, policemen and members of the public to help victims of accidents or injuries.

KMCH chairman and managing director Nalla G Palanisamy said, they were planning a hospice for terminally ill cancer patients. The hospital had also created a trust to treat patients, especially children and the elderly at subsidised rates and free of cost.
