NAGAPATTINAM: The Fast Track Mahila court in Nagapattinam town on Thursday sentenced a 23-year-old youth to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a penalty of `5,000 for impregnating a 21-year-old woman after promising her that he would marry her. A couple of youths, who were accused of threatening the victim with recordings of intimate scenes between her and the accused, were acquitted by the court because of a lack of evidence.
The accused, Swaminathan, of Paramanallur village was a worker in a mosquito repellent manufacturing unit.
