Two Teachers in Soup After Girls' Plaint

THENI: The Chief Education Officer suspended two teachers for misbehaving with girls at Boothipuram government school near here on Thursday.

Education department sources said some girls of the school had informed the District Child Protection Officer, Sivakumar, that two teachers were misbehaving with students in a classroom during the evening hours.

Sivakumar passed on the complaint to Chief Education Officer Vasu, who ordered an inquiry. DEO Vanaja Grena Selvakumari held inquiries with some girls and the two teachers, Tamilmurugan and Murugan, for two days. Based on the inquiry report, the CEO suspended the two teachers.

Sex Charge on Cop

Meanwhile, in Coimbatore, a 15-year-old school girl has lodged a sexual harassment complaint against a police constable on Thursday. Kamalanathan, a constable with the AR, is at present with the fake currency wing of CB-CID in the city.

The girl’s father died and she lives with her mother. As the girl did not go to school properly, her mother left her at the constable’s house in Ukkadam. He is her friend and she hoped that her daughter would go to school properly if she lived in a policeman’s house.

The girl lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore city police alleging that the constable sexually harassed her. Based on her complaint, Police registered a case against Kamalanathan under the POCSO Act of 2012.
