80 Bottles Looted from TASMAC Shop

VILLUPURAM:Days after a man was arrested for stealing liquor from a TASMAC outlet as he didn’t have money to buy alcohol, liquor worth Rs 12,000 was reportedly stolen from another TASMAC outlet here on Saturday night.

Sources said, the outlet, located near the Villupuram new bus stand, was looted after Murugaiyan of Kappur, the salesman, closed it on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, people who came to the marriage hall nearby saw the lock of the TASMAC shop broken. They informed the Villupuram taluk police. On information, Murugaiyan too arrived. He and the police officials inspected the shop and found 80 liquor bottles worth Rs 12,000 missing from the shop.

Based on a complaint, taluk police registered a case and are inquiring further.

Bid to rob Temple

A vain attempt was made by robbers to open the hundial of a temple near Villupuram town. Police said, Abirameswar temple in  Thiruvamuthur village near Villupuram town was targetted by thieves on Saturday night after the priest Magesh locked the temple after  the poojas and went home. Though the locks were broken, nothing was stolen.
