N Rangasamy inaugurated a newly-laid water supply distribution system replacing the existing pipes in the North, Central and South parts of Zone 1 of the Boulevard and its surrounding areas. The work was taken up in 2012 at an estimated cost of Rs 70 crore by availing finance from HUDCO and was completed in January 2015. Under the scheme, 128 kilometres of pipeline laid 35 years back have been replaced with new ductile Iron pipes.

At present, water is supplied from two overhead tanks at the Public Health Division (PWD) office at Uppalam and  Bharathidasan College to the North, Central and Southern grids with 7,500 connections.

Supply of water to the two OHTs is from borewells at Muthirapalayam and Krishna Nagar.
