Narayanasamy Goes Hammer And Tongs Over Power Scam

PUDUCHERRY: Former Union Minister and AICC general secretary V Narayansamy on Tuesday said he would petition the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to enquire into  allegations of corruption in purchase of equipment for power distribution by the Puducherry Electricity Department.

In a statement here, Narayanasamy alleged that a N R Congress legislator was getting a huge amount as commission in the `50-crore transformer purchase deal for the electricity department as well as for the purchase of CFL bulbs at a cost of `47 crore. A major portion of it was being shared with the Chief Minister N Rangasamy, he alleged.

He also said the announcement of the Chief  Minister that `300 would be given to each ration cardholder instead of free rice was a ploy to stall the rice scheme through the PDS. “During the four years in power, Rangasamy government had provided free rice for only 11 months,  that too only 10 kg per month as against  30 kg promised in his election manifesto,” the former Union Minister said.
