PUDUCHERRY: Upset over the inconsistent operation of services, residents of Chinnaveerampatinam village detained a bus belonging to the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) on Friday.

The villagers said the PRTC was operating two services to ChinnaVeerampatinam via Ariyankuppam, Manaveli and Odaveli.

In due course, one service was stopped while the other was not operated regularly forcing people to look for autos or other means of travel.  Irked by this, villagers detained the bus on Friday.

On Information, police rushed to the spot and held talks with the villagers. However, they refused to pay heed and wanted officials of PRTC to hold talks with them. PRTC Managing Director P Devaraj went to the spot and assured villager of regular service following which the bus was released. PRTC claimed that the service could not be operated for two days due to crew shortage.
