VELLORE: A travelling ticket examiner (TTE) on the Chennai-Palani Express was attacked by two youths, who were travelling in the women’s compartment, on Thursday.
Sources said Niveth, the 23-year-old TTE, was checking tickets of passengers, when he heard arguments of women confronting two male passengers who had boarded their compartment.The TTE rushed to the women’s compartment and asked for tickets from the youth, who were reportedly in an inebriated condition.
Niveth asked them to pay a penalty. Irked by this, the youth attacked the TTE with a sharp weapon and attacked him and took to their heels. On information, Government Railway Police registered a case and launched a search for the duo.
