DMDK Fined for Failure to Transfer Plea

CHENNAI: Irked over the repeated failure of the DMDK leader Vijayakant, his wife Premalatha and other office-bearers of the party to get their writ petitions transferred to the Supreme Court, the Madras High Court on Tuesday slapped a cost of Rs 24,000 on them.

Vijayakant, his wife and party office-bearers had filed a batch of 12 writ petitions seeking the declaration of sections 499 and 500 of the IPC and Section 199 of the CrPC null and void.
