Tiff Over Eve-teasing Leaves 6 Hurt

VILLUPURAM: Six students were attacked by a gang of youth over a dispute on eve teasing. Three were injured and admitted in hospital.

Sources said some youth from Villupuram town followed and eve teased girls studying in government higher secondary school, Villupuram. The girls were from Chinnakallipatti village on Panruti Road.

A few days ago, some persons from Chinnakallipatti came to Villupuram town and they caught the youth red-handed while they were following the girls.

They attacked and later warned the gang. Irked by this, the gang planned to attack the boys who went to Villupuram town to study.

They informed some Chinnakallipatti students that a birthday celebration was arranged at Villupuram town. Believing that, Siva, Arunkumar and four more from Chinnakallipatti went to Villupuram on Saturday evening. A gang of youth took them to a deserted street in Villupuram market near the old bus stand saying that the birthday celebration was arranged at a house in the street.

After reaching there, the gang attacked the students with belts, iron rods and firewood.

Two suffered head injuries and were taken to a private hospital for treatment. An injured Arunkumar was taken to government hospital, Villupuram.
