PMK, Cong flay RSS Chief's Teresa Charge

CHENNAI:  Leaders including PMK founder S Ramadoss and TNCC president EVKS Elangovan on Wednesday condemned RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat for his remarks on Mother Teresa and urged Prime Minister Modi to step in and put an end to the hate speeches of the Sangh Parivar leaders.

Ramadoss said the speech made by Bhagwat had insulted Teresa and degraded her service to the people. Bhagwat’s remarks were intended to keep religious tensions alive. He also recalled the attempts of Hindu Maha Sabha to install statues of Nathuram Godse and asked them to refrain from such activities. Elangovan, said there was no evidence to suggest that the Christian population had increased due to conversions. Christians who were 2 pc in 1951 remain at 2.34 per cent, showing that their population had not increased even by one per cent. Mother Teresa was beyond religion and she did not force people from other religions ,working in her own organisation, to convert, he said.
