SALEM: Seven persons, including five women, were booked for throwing chemical on the faces of three persons here on Thursday. Of the seven booked, four have been arrested.

Mettur police said, Murugan (42) of Salem Camp near Mettur and employee of a private company in the same locality, recently bought a home through an auctioning process. However, he had a land dispute with some of his neighbours. Meanwhile on Wednesday night, a gang, including a group of women, came to his home and threatened him to vacate the house. During a heated argument, the gang allegedly threw a chemical on Murugan’s face. He somehow managed to escape the attack. But, some quantity of the chemical also fell on the face of Murugan’s wife Kavitha (37) and his friends Venkatesh and Venkatachalam’s face. Later, the  three were admitted to  Government Hospital, Mettur.

Murugan lodged a complaint with Mettur police who registered a case and arrested four persons. A hunt is on to nab three more.
