PUDUCHERRY: Principal district and sessions judge P Velmurugan has convicted and sentenced a youth, Anthony alias Mariasusai (29), to three years’ rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a seven-year old girl.
According to sources, Anthony a resident of Kamarajar Nagar, on June 9, 2013.took the girl inside his house and sexually assaulted her. Following a complaint by the girl’s mother, a criminal case was registered at the D’Nagar police station and Anthony was arrested under section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
When the case came up for hearing, judge Velmurugan sentenced Anthony to 3 years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine.
