Stray Bullet from Own Gun Hurts Hunter

VELLORE: A 42-year-old hunter accidentally shot himself in the shoulder during the late hours of Thursday at the Mulvadi forest area, under the Veppankuppam police station limit.

Madhavan, a resident of Bangalamedu in Melarasampattu panchayat,  working as pump operator is a habitual hunter. On Thursday night, he ventured into the foothills of Melvadi forest to hunt for the meat of wild animals. When he was loading the country-made gun, he accidentally pulled the trigger leading to his shoulder getting injured.

On hearing him scream, locals rushed to his help and admitted him to a private hospital in the city where his condition is stated to be stable. Police registered a case under section 336 and 367 of IPC read with section 25 of Indian Arms Act and are investigating.
