Over 48K to Attend Class X Board Exams

COIMBATORE: As many as 48,279 students in the district will take up the Class 10 examinations beginning on Thursday at 145 centres.

While 37,620 are from Coimbatore educational district, 8,833 are from Pollachi. Exams would be conducted at 101 and 37 centres in these districts respectively.  Also, 1,826 private candidates from both educational districts would take up the exams at seven centres in the district.

The exams will begin at 9.15 am and end at 12 pm. The first 10 minutes will be allocated for reading the question paper and the next five minutes for verifying the candidate’s personal details. Hence, the actual duration of the exam will be two and a half hours, from 9.30 am to 12 pm.

When the exam is over, the answer sheets will be taken to two collection centres, one each in Coimbatore and Pollachi educational districts. Armed security has been provided to these centres.

There will be 2,500 invigilators on examination duty. Besides, 240 squads including 50 flying squads and 170 standing squads and five special teams headed by senior School Education Department officials will maintain vigil for their smooth conduct.

District Education Officer Mandirapathy said the Education Department has also instructed invigilators to check whether any candidate is absent and if so, contact their parents and enquire with them. 

The exams, beginning with Language Paper - I, will be held till April 10.
