ERODE:In the wake of the arrest of five Maoists from Coimbatore district a few days back, the State government has issued instructions to strengthen anti-Naxalite special divisions in the Erode, Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts. Police sources said that each division had a sub-inspector and seven constables. Their main role is to gather intelligence regarding movement of Naxalites in the forest areas.In the district, they will work jointly with the special branch police attached to the stations in Bargur, Kadambur, Hasanur, Thalavadi and Bhavanisagar. They have been specially deputed to watch Naxalite movement with the help of Friends of Police and leaders of local bodies.In all these five stations, two armed reserve police personnel and five additional policemen have been posted as they are in the hill areas or near forests.
