SALEM: A 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the son of a private school owner here on Wednesday.
According to Ammapet police, a 11-year-old girl, a class VI student of a private school in Vasanthapuram near Hasthampatti, was staying in the school hostel.
The house of David Livingston, son of the school owner Jeyaraj Christ, was located near the hostel. The girl used to play with with David’s three-year-old daughter during weekends.
Last month, while the girl went to the house, everyone except David had gone out, Utilising the situation, David allegedly sexually assaulted the girl. While the girl informed about the incident to the hostel warden Mariya (32), a resident of Tirunelveli district, she allegedly threatened the girl not to reveal it to anyone.
Scared by this, the girl did not tell the harassment meted out to her by David. On Tuesday, when her grandmother came, the girl told about David’s act to her.
Later, the grandmother informed the incident to Hasthampatti police, who directed them to lodge a complaint with the Ammapet All Women Police. Later, she lodged a complaint. The police then began investigations into the incident and sent the girl for medical test.
Police have registered a case against David Livingston and Mariya under Section 114 (abettor present when offence is committed), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 343 (wrongful confinement), 376 (rape) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code and Under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) and Section 17 (abetment) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
Special teams have been formed to nab David Livingston and Mariya, who have gone underground.
