THOOTHUKUDI: A 17-year-old boy was booked for allegedly trying to rape a 10-year-old girl at Veppankadu near Meignanapuram on Thursday.
The accused was identified as Suresh from Veppankadu.
The incident took place on Thursday evening when the victim was alone in her house. The accused, who is a relative, residing in the neighbourhood entered the house and took her to a room and tried to rape her when she raised an alarm. Immediately, Suresh fled the spot but not before warning her not to reveal the incident to her parents. But the victim informed her mother on her arrival.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s mother Meignanapuram police, who filed a case and secured Suresh. Further probe is on.
