CHENNAI: Chennai Metro Rail will be sensitising its guards on religious issues, after reports that one of them asked a Sikh passenger to remove his turban. Tandeep Singh, a senior engineer working with a company in Tada, was enjoying his first metro rail ride on Monday, when the incident happened. Tandeep boarded the train at Vadapalani to travel up to Alandur. Around 8.30 pm, a security guard, unaware of the turban’s importance to a Sikh, asked Tandeep to remove it. After learning about the incident, CMRL apologised to Tandeep. “The issue was resolved immediately,” said a Metro rail source, adding that they would sensitise the staff on such issues.
