Give ID Cards to Avail Government Benefits: Tamil Nadu Ryots

VELLORE: The Vellore unit of Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangam affiliated to the All India Kisan Sabha has urged the state government to issue identity cards to small and marginal farmers to help them avail of welfare assistance and other benefits. A resolution to this effect was adopted at the district level consultative meeting of the Sangam held in Natrampalli on Saturday, chaired by S B Sampathkumar.

According to the district secretary of the Sangam, R Mullai, the district administration should instruct all the taluk offices to take steps to ensure that all the individuals not able to avail of the Aadhar card, receive them at the earliest. The district administration should appoint the necessary work-force to complete the job. The Sangam has also insisted that all petitions submitted to the taluk offices by general public should be given a written acknowledgement. An appeal was made to the National Highways authority to construct a foot overbridge on the western side of the flyover across the national highway at Natrampalli to help pedestrians to reach the bus stand. Another resolution has urged the State Transport Corporation to instruct all the bus drivers to take the buses plying between Chennai and Bangalore inside the Natrampalli bus stand.

The Sangam also appealed to its members to take part in large numbers in the state level picketing agitation on October 20 to draw the attention of the state and central governments to a 30-point charter of demands decided at the state-level conference held in Tanjore recently. Road and rail-rokko agitations have been organised at Natrampalli, Kandili, Jolarpet, Pernambut, and Gudiyattam.
