VILLUPURAM: Did you know that apart from tickling the taste buds, a well-made fish curry could land you in trouble, if you haven’t learnt to master the craving?
That is what happened with a 43-year-old man, who took a special liking to the delicacy made by his neighbour and landed at her doorstep with a request for a bowl of the curry. But when she refused to part with even a wee bit, the man beat her up and threatened to kill her.
The drama unfolded when Sathya (22), a resident of Pillayarpalayam near Tirukoilur, was relaxing after seeing her husband off for work.
Earlier, she had prepared fish curry, whose smell wafted to her neighbour Govindhan’s house. A while later, she heard the door bell ring and went to check, only to find Govindhan standing there. When Govindhan asked for a bowl of the curry, Sathya, taking this to be a trivial request, refused and teased him. Angered by her refusal, Govindhan beat up Sathya, abused her, and threatened her with dire consequences.
Later, based on a complaint from Sathya, the Manalurpet police registered a case and arrested Govindhan on Friday.
It was not clear at the time of going to press whether he was cooling his heels behind bars after a taste of curry that landed him in trouble.
