KARUR: Three DMK functionaries, including a district secretary, have been booked for distributing money in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The district DMK unit had courted controversy over welfare assistance to a fire accident victim in South Sellipalayam a week ago. The IT wing attached to the party uploaded the pictures of party functionaries distributing money on a Facebook along with a status.
Following this, Koyampalli VAO filed a complaint to the returning officer of the Krishnarayapuram assembly constituency. Based on the complaint, Vangal police registered a FIR under section 171 (d) & (e) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against district secretary Naniyur Rajendran, Thanthonimalai union secretary M Ragunathan and district treasurer V Karupanan.
