Rollback Fuel Price Hike: Ramadoss

PMK founder demanded the BJP-led Government at the Centre to rollback the hike in fuel prices.

CHENNAI: PMK founder S Ramadoss on Tuesday demanded the BJP-led Government at the Centre to rollback the hike in fuel prices, warning that it would cost the national party in the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

In a statement here, he condemned the increase of Rs 2.19 and Re 1 per litre of petrol and diesel respectively. "The Government claims to be raising the rates based on increase in global crude oil prices. However, it has not passed the benefits to people when the prices of crude oil was low," he said.

He said the hike had been effected after the completion of the first phase of voting in Assam and West Bengal, instead of the usual first and 16th of every month.

Ramadoss demanded the Election Commission not to restrict election campaign to five villages in rural constituencies everyday. Expressing surprise over the regulation, he urged the EC not to impose such restrictions.
